More wedding pictures

Thursday, July 14th, 2005

I just finished with editing and uploading more wedding pictures. These pictures are from Mike Bedy, taken with his digital camera (he still has some pictures he took with his film camera that we haven’t even seen yet.)

Diet Coke Welfare

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

On The Debilitating Effects Of [Diet Coke] Welfare: The lids are on 20-oz and even 2-liter bottles, but the prize is a free 1-liter bottle of product. While I have to admire the company’s insidiously effective strategy of getting America to change its idea of a serving of Coke [over the years, we've gone from [...]

“Junk” DNA proved to be not junk

Friday, July 8th, 2005

In yet another example of scientists blindly assuming that anything they don’t understand is meaningless, vestigal, or marginally useful at best, only to find out they were wrong wrong wrong: scientists recently discovered a link between empathy and so-called “junk DNA”: The study centered around microsatellites, which are short, identical DNA sequences scattered throughout genomes [...]

I am such a geek

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

Not in a “hey, I’m proud to be a geek” way, I’m a geek in a “cool geeks think I’m stupid” kind of way. For instance, I really want One of these, even though I don’t really have any use for it. I could see wanting one if I had like, a co-located server somewhere [...]

Should developers learn crypto?

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

London Bombings

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

Well, it was only a matter of time. The problem with putting so much effort into securing our airports is that terrorists will just switch tactics to the next vulnerable target down the line. It’s like how I decide where to park my bike. As long as there is a nicer bike on the bike [...]

Alternate plot for Revenge of the Sith

This alternate plot by Eric Gunnerson for Revenge of the Sith sounded interesting.

Changes

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Unless you only read this blog in an RSS reader (or screen scraper), you’ve probably noticed the layout changes the missing comments box on the sidebar. Alas, it disappeared during the upgrade. Yes, we’ve been dragged kicking and screaming into the Century of the Fruitbat (in WordPress terms, anyway) by the lastest XML-RPC vulnerability. Please [...]

Civil Disobedience

Monday, July 4th, 2005

Minnesota has strict laws against any kinds of aerial fireworks. If it lifts off the ground and explodes, it’s not allowed (model rockets are A-OK, though… just watch out for those spectacular engine failures). For the 4th of July, Peggy and I went to a acquaintance’s house. Said acquaintance lives on a lake. Of course, [...]

Of Mormons and Michael Jackson

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

The other day I was looking up Mormons on the internet. On www.exmormon.org I found out that Mormons believe that “Dark skin is a curse from God, the result of our sin, or the sin of our ancestors. If sufficiently righteous, a dark-skinned person will become light-skinned. ” Perhaps this explains Michael Jackson.
