Harry Potter Liveblog (no spoilers)

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

I just bought the new Harry Potter book and will be reading it throughout the day. I read through page 56 in the parking lot and the clock on my computer says it’s exactly 1:00 pm. I’ll keep spoilers out of my comments and will only reference page numbers, if you want to follow along. [...]

Is it reasonable to require javascript?

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

I thought of a method I could use to fight weblog spam, but it would require legitimate commenters to have javascript enabled. Is that reasonable? Does anyone browse with javascript off nowadays?

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

Working on a new site design

Friday, July 15th, 2005

I’ll be working on a new site design today, so expect lots of breakage. You can stop reading this post now, because I’m just going to throw in a bunch of random text formatted in all kinds of ways to make sure that I’m redesigning everything and that it all fits together nicely. Lorem Ipsum… [...]

CanadaWatch: How much is your neighbor’s dog worth?

Friday, July 15th, 2005

Canadians get a quick lesson in Economics: The hamlet of Rae-Edzo, located about 100 kilometres north of Yellowknife, has started paying anyone 16 or older a fee of $50 for each stray dog turned in. The program was brought in after public health officials said dogs were running loose and biting people, especially elderly people. [...]
