New photolog

Keir, Corey and I have talked about setting up a photolog for quite a while. The problem was I could never find any software I liked which supported multiple users. I kept threatening to write my own from scratch, but, due to general lazyness, never got very far.

After briefly flirting with Pictorialis, I eventually gave up trying to modify it for my needs once I ran across Pixelpost. Pixelpost is very small, and it proved to be easy to add all kinds of crazy things to it (like multiple user support, flickr style tags, etc.)

With that in mind, check out 8 eyes, so named because there’s three of us but only Corey wears glasses.

Since I’m also impatient, I’m posting the link despite the fact that I’m not really finished with the software yet. I only have three more things to do; add a field for “date photo was taken”, add photographer bios, and make things like, “show photos by user, tag, or by date taken” work properly.

Anyway don’t miss this picture which is one of my favorite pics of all time that I don’t think I’ve ever posted anywhere before. Keir is currently going through all of his pictures and posting anything that looks remotely naughty, with an emphasis on geologic porn.

Here is a convenient link to all of the photos we’ve posted so far. Observant folks might notice that, thus far, I’m mostly posting things that I’ve posted to my webpage before, and they would be right. The vast, vast majority of my picture archive is on my currently out-of-commission linux machine. (This is why I’m spending so much time getting the photoblogging software up and running. Once Bedy sends the hard drive (he got into a car accident and so has been a little busy recently), I can fix my machine, and then I’m going to start whacking through the backlog. This will have a rather negative effect on photolog software development.)
