I was thinking of “Hark, what light through yonder window breaks,” but hark the herald angels sing is more appropriate for the season, I guess.
The concept is pretty cool, and it strongly reminds me of dadadodo, jwz‘s randomized text generator. dadadodo uses markov chains to generate its output; using Google Suggest in this way is almost like treating it as a giant markov chain with all of Google searches entered by everyone as the input text.
jwz’s precient desire (before Google was widespread!) is nearer to getting filled:
I want access to the raw Alta Vista database. In order to implement their NEAR search term, they must have proximity information in their database. I want to reconstruct a Markov chain from that, and generate text based on the whole of the web.
How about generating texts just from the whole web’s search queries? That’s a start, anyway.
