A lovely evening

‘The Hunt for Red October’ is one of my favorite movies. It’s so relaxing to watch and most everybody in the movie does rational things throughout the whole movie. In one scene this butler-guy says to his boss, a big political figure, “I hope we had a lovely evening.” Now that I’m a working stiff I really appreciate how important it is to try to have a lovely evening. I try not to think about the time I spend with people at work as opposed to the time I get to spend with Devin. Last night I was too tired to cook so we went to a nearby restaurant called The Elephant Bar and took advantage of happy hour. Or in this case happy three hours. At the bar we saw a couple on a first date and a bunch of people watching Monday Night Football, it was the KC Chiefs vs. the LA Raiders and everyone in the bar was cheering for the Chiefs:) Later we went home and watched more football and I fell asleep on the couch. When I was a teenager I used to think that everybody else was doing a lot cooler things than I was. I don’t know what I thought they were doing just that they were doing straight up cooler things. Then I found out they were doing the same plain boring things I was like watching TV. It’s the same with California I keep thinking every one is out doing stuff but I’m starting to think they just watch TV like me. When people ask me my hobbies I never include that as a hobby but it seems like I spend enough time doing it (ha, ha) that I should say that it is. So what if I sound uneducated, right? I was talking to a guy about hobbies (as a side he is a certified master sommelier) and he said he liked to play music, so I asked what he played, does he play the guitar? He said he likes to play music on his stereo. Huh.

As an update, the grocery workers are still on strike and there is no way we’re going to cross the picket line. As a matter of principal. Even if there are amazing deals over there. I miss my saturday night steaks. I tried going to Costco for them but they cut the steaks way too thick–like Fred Flintstone thick. Mmm, steak.

this may be over simple, but if a steak is too thick why not cut it in half?
